Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Access & Belonging Curriculum

Course Title: Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Access & Belonging (DEIA&B):

The Impact of Inequity on Health

Curriculum Owner: Dr. Darlene Williams
3 Credit Hours

As a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility and Belonging subject matter expert, I initially created my Diversity & Health Disparities curriculum in 2012.  After over a decade of collaboration with academic institutions and successful instruction to hundreds of students, my curriculum is copywritten and available for your use.

It’s no doubt that as the world rapidly globalizes, diversity is becoming increasingly present across all aspects of life. Encompassing gender, race, ethnicity, culture, sexuality or socio-economic background, diversity and a multicultural environment are important for a whole host of reasons, above all for the different perspectives it provides.  We meet more people daily and each one brings a new perspective about something into our lives.

Businesses are the first to reap the rewards of having a multicultural working environment; the benefits of cultural diversity and inclusion are positive. This shift not only offers society, healthcare, and the workplace greater strengths, but also greater differences.

As a result, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility & Belonging has become increasingly important and crucial for the health, productivity, and success of organizations, healthcare, academia, and society from a business and a human standpoint. Emotional Intelligence and Academic Intelligence drives success.

Now more than ever, we all have a crucial role to play in creating a more diverse, equitable and inclusive society, mental/physical health environments, and workforce.  We need to educate students on the importance of promoting belonging and inclusion to dismantle injustice and oppression. The Time is Now

DEIA&B is not an elective course, it’s a necessity.  At a time when DEIA&B context is a priority, I’ve not only updated my versatile curriculum for the Synchronous/Asynchronous learner, but this impactful evidence-based curriculum provides insight and concrete analysis to students by helping to improve the lives of millions by breaking down existing barriers to equity.
